News: When in MCR (April 16th) – The up & coming festival not to be missed this summer

You’ve all heard of Leeds, Glasto, V fest etc etc…but it’s with no shadow of a doubt that there seems to be a drought of local festivals allowing new up and coming bands to showcase their talents. I mean yes we’re all guilty of paying the £200 odd pound to see the likes of Alex Turner absolutely slay Leeds festival, but when he goes back to his million pound bank account and supermodel girlfriend, have we really helped towards the growth of the next generation of great artists, who are right on our doorstep?

Well fear not, as four brilliant music-minded girls, Abi Richardson, Nicole Burrows, Miriam Rahimov and Ellen Offredy have created a solution to the problem in the form of Manchester based one-day festival ‘When in MCR‘. Based in two venues in Manchester’s bustling Northern Quarter, famous for it’s buzzing music scene and regular club nights the girls have set up an underground line-up to die for.

The first NQ venue of the day will be Gullivers, which will be headlined by none other than Manchester’s very own Cupids. Recently tipped as “Manchester’s most exciting musical transformation” the Oldham four piece are certainly ones to look out for in the upcoming months. Also taking to the stage will be the likes of female-fronted band Louie Louie and three-piece guitar band Man Made.

The second venue of choice will be The Castle Hotel, which we will see headlined by stockport four-piece No Hot Ashes. Although said to be influenced by Manchester legends The Smiths, Happy Mondays and Joy Division, the band offer a funk-rock sound that differentiates from your average cliche’ Manchester band, enabling them to establish their own unique sound and give a performance you’ll be talking about for weeks. Joining them is a string of Northern brilliance, including Manchester BIMM band The Prions, and Liverpool four-piece JUDAS.

When In MCR will be held at Gullivers and The Castle Hotel on April 16th 2016. Tickets are available now from Skiddle.
